Collaboration of UKEN professor Josef Kapusta with the Demagog.SK portal

The Slovak daily Denník N recently reported on the results of a collaboration between UKEN professor Josef Kapusta z portalem fact-checkingowym Demagog.SK. and the fact-checking portal Demagog.SK. Thanks to the analytical application developed by his team, it was possible to examine thousands of politicians’ statements and identify topics most frequently affected by inaccuracies or manipulations – including unemployment, road construction, and references to Europe. The project demonstrates how artificial intelligence tools can support transparency in public debate and the critical thinking of citizens.

Professor Kapusta’s team also analyzes the linguistic characteristics of fake news—from the choice of parts of speech to the emotional content of the text. Their research indicates, among other things, that disinformation often uses negatively charged vocabulary and specific linguistic constructs, which allows for the development of more precise models for detecting false content.

Professor Józef Kapusta’s research serves as an important reference point for the teaching and research activities developed at the UKEN Institute of Security and Computer Science in Krakow in the areas of cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and data analysis. Our programs and initiatives promote a similar approach: combining advanced machine learning methods with the practical challenges of the modern information society.
