Webinar “How to Build an Effective Security Operations Center (SOC) – Maturity Assessment and Continuous Improvement”

Students and lecturers from the Institute of Security and Computer Science at the University of the National Education Commission in Krakow (UKEN) actively participated in an international webinar entitled “Building an Effective Cyber Security Operations Center: Maturity Evaluation and Continuous Improvement“, devoted to the construction and improvement of cybersecurity operations centers (Security Operations Centers – SOCs).

The event was organized by UKEN, SET University (Kyiv) and the Center for International Cooperation of the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv as part of the international grant project “AI-Driven Cybersecurity: Opportunities and Challenges“, financed by the Swedish Institute under the AI Baltic Sea Neighborhood Programme.

The webinar discussed practical aspects of the functioning of a Security Operations Center (SOC) – a key unit responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and responding to cybersecurity incidents. Participants had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with:

  • organizational structure and operational processes in the SOC,
  • methods for designing cyberattack detection scenarios,
  • procedures for responding to security incidents,
  • using automation tools in the analysis and handling of security events.

The webinar was designed for those starting their careers in cybersecurity and aimed to present the practical aspects of working in a SOC and the current job market requirements for specialists in this field. Participating in the event allowed students and academics from the UKEN Institute of Security and Computer Science to expand their knowledge of modern methods for monitoring cyber threats and the role of artificial intelligence in IT security systems. The meeting also provided an opportunity to exchange experiences within the framework of international academic cooperation in the field of cybersecurity and new technologies.
