Office for People with Disabilities

Office for People with Disabilities (Polish abbreviation – BON)

BON is a unit of UKEN responsible for supporting people with disabilities. The Office’s main tasks include:

  • providing adaptations and facilities (e.g. equipment, assistant support, sign language interpreter);
  • providing information and assistance in completing formalities;
  • promoting equal treatment and integration.

BON deals with, among other things, the adaptation of the educational process – an activity aimed at ensuring equal access to education for those who undertake studies at our university. The possibility of using the adaptation of the study process is regulated by Study Regulations: II point 4. Method of adapting the organization of studies and the implementation of the teaching process to the special needs of students with disabilities.

On the BON website we can also find information about psychological support for UKEN students and doctoral students. As of February 1, 2024, students and doctoral candidates at the University of the National Commission in Krakow can benefit from free, ad hoc psychological consultations. The rules for using psychological support are set out in the document:

Student Service Center

Ctudent Service Center (Polish abbreviation – COS)

COS is a unit of UKEN responsible for administrative services for students and graduates and maintaining documentation related to the course of studies.
All applications, requests and requests (including those addressed to the Institute Management) should be submitted by students to COS to the person responsible for handling the “Cybersecurity” (first-cycle studies) and “Computer Science” (first- and second-cycle studies) courses.

In the case of e-mail correspondence, please include in the subject line the field of study (specialization), year of study, degree level and form of study.

Contact with COS it should be sent from student email addresses (using the following format: firstname.lastname@student.uken.krakow.pl or firstname.lastname@student.up.krakow.pl). It is recommended that all current matters be handled electronically or by phone.
In-person visits to the University building (room 145) are possible between 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM (Monday-Thursday) or 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM (Friday) – in such cases, prior contact by phone or email is recommended.

At the Student Service Center you can, among other things:

  • receive a certificate of student status,
  • report changes to personal data,
  • submit an application for a duplicate or replacement of a student ID card,
  • receive a list of average grades, among others, for social purposes,
  • submit an application for: extension of the exam session, individual organization of studies (IOS), board examination, change of study mode, conditional entry, repeating a semester/year, change of supervisor, leave,
  • obtain information about the decision taken by the Director of the Institute in the event of submitting an application,
  • obtain information on the procedure for resuming studies and transfers from other universities,
  • register your diploma thesis (via the electronic “Dyplomowanie” system),
  • collect your diploma and supplement.

In case of resignation from studies, the student is obliged to submit the resignation in writing to COS.

It is recommended that part-time students submit their withdrawal in writing before the installment payment deadline. In such a case, the tuition fee will be calculated proportionally to the number of classes completed by the withdrawal date..

Paths to dealing with matters:

When communicating at the Institute level, the student addresses:

  1. First of all, to the Mayor of the Year.
  2. When doesn’t get an answer/solution, contacts Supervisor of the Year.
  3. In situations where the Student does not obtain information related to the study process via the above-mentioned channels, communication is possible at the level of the Institute of Security and Information Technology via the institute mailbox (ii@uken.krakow.pl), only from the domains “student.uken.krakow.pl” and “student.up.krakow.pl”.

Anti-discrimination procedure

On February 10, 2020, our university introduced the Anti-Discrimination Procedure at the Pedagogical University of Krakow

At the same time, the Rector appointed the Rector’s Plenipotentiary for Equal Treatment and the Rector’s Commission for Equal Treatment.

Rector’s Plenipotentiary for Equal Treatment

The duties of the Rector’s Plenipotentiary for Equal Treatment include, among others:

  • initiating, promoting and conducting systemic activities (including educational ones) for equal treatment, addressed to the entire University community;
  • supporting the student community and the management and administration of the University in implementing anti-discrimination procedures and responding to cases of discrimination;
  • taking positions in ongoing disciplinary proceedings concerning violations in the area of ​​equal treatment, at the request of the Rector or the Disciplinary Ombudsman;
  • providing opinions on the University’s strategic documents in terms of equal treatment and counteracting discriminatory practices.

Currently, the Rector’s Plenipotentiary for Equal Treatment is dr Rafał Abramciów, prof. UKEN (rafal.abramciow@uken.krakow.pl).

The Rector’s Commission for Equal Treatment consists of:

The scope of the Commission’s activities includes, among others:

  • expressing opinions on complaints regarding violations in the area of ​​equal treatment, at the request of the Rector or the Disciplinary Ombudsman;
  • initiating solutions for equal treatment for the entire academic community;
  • taking actions to disseminate knowledge on compliance with the principles of equal treatment, in particular in the form of meetings or training addressed to the academic community;
  • initiating activities for people and groups exposed to or experiencing discrimination;
  • preparing draft procedures and practices for counteracting discrimination and violence and ensuring equal treatment;
  • providing opinions on existing procedures and practices at the University regarding the tasks assigned to the Commission;
  • supporting the academic community in implementing applicable anti-discrimination procedures.
